Jefferson Hazelnut is a disease resistant compact shrub selection from Oregon State University that grows between 8-12’ in height. Within two to three years it begins to bare nuts. A mature tree bares heavy twenty+ pound crops of very large nuts which start to ripen in September. It’s genetically listed as immune to Blight, Canker and pests, including Eastern Filbert Blight. Jefferson Hazelnut is good to -25 degrees Fahrenheit. All three of our hazelnut varieties, Eta, Jefferson and Theta are complimentary for pollination. Wildlife Species: Whitetail, Turkey.
