Arkansas Black

from $16.95
sold out

Arkansas Black is a uniformly spreading, vigorous, cold hardy, early-bearing heavy cropper. From our experience, we would rate it as having high disease resistance to Fireblight and CAR. Arkansas Black has proven itself to have excellent pest resistance as well. These apples are medium to large and remain rock hard into the fall, equivalent to a Winter Pear, after which they begin to ripen November and into December in the northern states. Once ripened, the apples are a wonderful, sweet and tart complex flavor. It’s well sought after for cider, baking and sauce. It’s believed to be a seedling of wine sap from the 1870’s. A crab is suggested for pollination. Wildlife Species: Whitetail.

Planting zones 4-8.
